Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia.
28 Oct 2006. Concert conducted by Antonio Pappano, with Rene Fleming soprano. Music by R. Strauss (18.00). Repeated 31 Oct 2006 (19.30) and 1 Nov 2006 (21.00).
For the Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilias symphonic season at the Parco della Musica in Rome, Rene Fleming will perform a concert entirely dedicated to Richard Strauss (28 and 31 Oct and 1 Nov). The soprano is an international star who sings very rarely in Italy and who finally debuts in Rome. Fans who know her only from her CDs can hear her live, appreciate her beautiful voice and enjoy her refined musical sensibility which is at its best in this genre of performance. She will perform from two poignant scores: Vier letze Lieder (a metaphysical and gloomy reflection on eternal rest) and the finale of Capriccio (a musically beautiful epilogue that leaves unanswered the question of what exactly opera is). Rene Fleming will be conducted by Antonio Pappano, who will also celebrate the name of Richard Strauss with the symphonic poem Till Eulenspiegel, and with the waltz sequence from the opera Der Rosenkavalier. Paolo Di Nicola.
