Andy Warhol Red Books.
23 Feb-4 May 2005. The red books in question were actually red albums that pioneering pop-artist Andy Warhol used to catalogue and record his Polaroids taken between 1969 and 1975. These fascinating snapshots show the wily Warhol during his daily life rather than any previously undiscovered interpretations of his work. Having lived his role as pop art guru to the hilt, the photos in this exhibition represent an intriguing series of freeze frames of Warhols everyday life. Often un-posed, from his private life, the photos comprise a fascinating and intimate collection that includes such show-biz personalities as John Lennon, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Paloma Picasso and a whole host of 1970s jet-setters as they pop in and out of Warhols universe.
