Florence sees the inauguration of the 70th edition of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with the specially commissioned world premiere of Antigone by Lecce composer Ivan Fedele (24 April, 4 and 6 May 2007). Fedele is one of the key figures in international contemporary music, his compositions providing an interesting synthesis between great operatic tradition and recent research into electronic and twelve-tone music.
