The third edition of the classical music festival Autunno in Musica takes place at the French Academy at Villa Medici from 16-19 October. This year's festival programme focuses on music from Baroque to late Romanticism, a period which consolidated the artistic relationship between France and Italy.
The festival opens on 16 October with three Baroque specialists, Atsushi Sakai, Julien Chauvin and Olivier Baumont, who play the music of Arcangelo Corelli, Rameau, Forqueray and Vivaldi.
On 17 October there is a performance by a cello quartet, comprising two internationally established soloists, François Salque and Xavier Phillips, and two young talents, Héloïse Luzzati and Hermine Horiot.
The opera La Villa Médicis, composed by Jules Mazellier who dedicated his work to the villa of which he was a fellow from 1910-1913, is performed in Rome for the first time on 18 October. Doing the honours are soprano Virginie Pochon, mezzo-soprano Aurore Ugolin, tenor Florian Cafiero andpianist Jeff Cohen on 18 October.
The festival finishes on 19 October with pianist Jonas Vitaud playing the music of Félicien David.
