Azerbaijan art in Rome
Rome's MAXXI National Museum of 21st century art dedicates an exhibition to the contemporary art scene of Azerbaijan, from 6-26 March.
"Fly to Baku" comprises over 100 works by 21 Azerbaijan artists, and most of the paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, photographs and performances were realised expressly for this exhibition. The artists represent three different generations and their work incorporates both traditional and modern elements.
Described as the most important collection of the nation's contemporary art, the exhibition has already had successful showings in London, Paris, Berlin and Moscow. The MAXXI show has been organised by the embassy of Azerbaijan to Italy and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation which promotes Azerbaijan culture abroad.
