Rome's historic English tea rooms, Babington's in Piazza di Spagna, offers its guests a chance to dine in its Exotic Garden, specially transformed for the summer.
Inside the extravagant installation, designed by Frederic Gachie and Ottavia Bedini, visitors can enjoy a buffet lunch daily from midday to 16.00. In this brightly-coloured and relaxing atmosphere, surrounded by birdsong, diners can select from cold dishes including pasta, meat and fish, vegetables, cheese, desserts, iced tea, water and coffee, for a charge of €23 per person.
Since it opened in 1893, Babingtons has been an oasis of Englishness in the Italian capital. In addition to its array of quality teas, it offers a selection of homemade marmalade, honey and chutney, biscuits and pastries, and has a wide range of gift items such as tea sets.
