Balletto del Teatro San Carlo
7-13 July 2004. In Mediterranea, choreography by Mauro Bigonzetti. The theme of the work is a dance travelogue through the countries of the Mediterranean; the score, edited by Bigonzetti with Paride Bonetta, draws on Mediterranean music, with a little Mozart thrown in for good measure. Critics agree that the choreographer lacks musicality, as well as diversity: the athletic energy and imagery of the dances remain monotonously similar throughout.
