Best DJs in Rome this weekend

This incoming weekend is probably the most intense catholic weekend lately, since the new pope has just been elected and also Saint Patrick’s day will be celebrated. But, you know, it’s a weekend after all, so it’s also time to find some place to party (beside drinking beer for Saint Patrick’s Day).

Friday

Friday’s guest-star is American DJ Carl Craig, Detroit techno pioneer (with Derrick May) in the late 80’s. He will entertain your brains (and bodies) with his synth-techno, pure Detroit style, but also with some experimental influences he performed over his long career collaborating with many artists (even Bjork). He will be the guest of ‘Branca Mon Amour’ night at Brancaleone (next week he will be at Ultra Festival in Miami).

UK DJ Shackleton will perform at Goa Club (introduced by resident DJ Giancarlino) for the Friday ‘Anarchy in the Club’ night. His style is dubstep with many contaminations, that’s why he collaborated with artists which perform different styles (like Ricardo Villalobos or Radio Slave).

Rashomon Club presents Spanish DJ Miguel Bastida, very young talented guy who will propose his minimal techno/tech-house.

If you prefer London clubbing scene go to Animal Social Club for the night organized from the London-based crews Funky Zeit and Secretsundaze in collaboration with roman Another Party. There will be five DJs performing over the night so you will have fun: Giles Smith and James Priestley from Secretsundaze, Mikail and Oli Low from Funky Zeit plus James Manero (Another Party).

Finally for Friday, fourth appointment with Cinema Augustus party organized by Tramp’s crew. This time Italian DJs Andrea Esu (resident of L-Ektrica events) and Matteo Del Grosso (Toofunk Recordings) will be the hosts of this nice event.

Saturday

Shifting to Saturday, introducing his most famous brother Paul (performing next week in Rome), Fritz Kalkbrenner will be the host of the ‘NoZoo’ night at Goa Club. Beside being a DJ and a producer he also likes to sing and you can listen him in some songs of DJ Sascha Funke (beside in some of his brother Paul) published on Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control record label.

From Germany to France, DJ W!ld will perform at Rashomon Club. He’s part of the Sven Vath’s Cocoon records that, itself, is a guarantee of good techno; he also is known in his parallel (and more experimental) project as Catwash.

From techno to deep-house, like only Americans can do, Kerri Chandler will warm you up at Room 26 (with resident DJ Louis Radio). From New Jersey, his house has been defined with a ‘deep soul’.

At least for this weekend, don’t forget to go to the church.
