5-17 May. Teatro Sistina presents a production of the smash-hit musical Billy Elliot, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall from the Stephen Daldry film, with music by Elton John.
The story is centred on the young Billy (played by Alessandro Frola) who grows up in a English mining district during a turbulent period marked by strikes and pit closures. Billy's father and brother want him to be a boxer but all Billy wants to do is dance.
After the musical debutted at the West End in 2005 it went on to win four Laurence Olivier Awards, and three years later it won 10 Tony Awards (the Oscars for musicals) at Broadway.
