Aspiring dancers mix with established choreographers in a combination of workshops and performances.

There are 12 performances, eight of which are Italian premieres. This year the festival is celebrating its 30 anniversary and one of the works to look out for is site specific Bodies in Urban Spaces by Willie Dorner (19 July) in which dancers make use of venues throughout the city.

Another anniversary event is Ballet Preljocaj in Empty Moves parts I, II, III to the music Empty Words by John Cage (21 July). Part III is an Italian premiere.

The festival acts as a bridge between the dance disciplines of north, middle and southern European and this year the links between dance and choreography in Germany and Italy are particularly strong.
