21 June. The American University of Rome presents "Toward a history of the Boncompagni Ludovisi: New light from the family archive" by Corey Brennan, Andrew W. Mellon Professor at the American Academy, on 21 June. In this richly illustrated talk, Brennan will discuss the exciting 2010 discovery of archival material that sheds light on centuries of Boncompagni Ludovisi family history, including the pontificates of Popes Gregory XIII Boncompagni (1572-1585) and Gregory XV Ludovisi (1621-1623), and the development of the famed Villa Ludovisi on the Pincio. A specialist in ancient Greek and Roman history and literature, Brennan leaves Rome shortly after his third and final year as Andrew W. Mellon Professor at the American Academy in Rome. (18.30).
