Brendan Behan conference in Rome
Under the title Brendan Behan: rescuing the writer from the myth, this international conference will reassess the life and work of Brendan Behan, one of Ireland’s best known, most controversial, and least studied writers.
It will explore the author’s writings in both English and Irish while taking stock of his overall achievement and legacy.
Speakers include Enrico Terrinoni, Barry McCrea, John McCourt, Mícheál Mac Craith, and the writer's niece Janet Behan, author of the acclaimed Brendan at the Chelsea.
The conference will be held at Rome's University of Notre Dame (25, 27 Sept) and Università Roma Tre (26 Sept).
