British School at Rome: Beyond Queer Minimalism

26 Feb. The British School at Rome (BSR) hosts Beyond Queer Minimalism, a talk by London-based visual artist, curator and academic John Walter on Tuesday 26 February, from 18.00-19.30.
Walter's talk will address the history of HIV as a subject of art as well as outlining how his contributions to the debate have opened up new territory.
Walter gained recognition for his 2015 visual art project, and doctoral thesis, Alien Sex Club, which addressed HIV as a crisis of representation.
The BSR says that Walter approaches the subject of HIV "in all its tragicomic complexity, making use of a variety of media in order to create a playful, carnivalesque experience, in which artistic and scientific discourses combine."
For details of the Rome event see BSR website.
