The exhbition of photographs of mothers and children by Alessandra Santarelli will take place at  l’Etablì, a wine bar and restaurant, in vicolo delle vacche 9, Monday May 20th from 6.30 pm. During the event, funds will be raised for the Save the Children project “Spazio Mamme” through the sale of photo shoots, to be subsequently realized at the photographer’s studio.

50% of the price of every photo session bought during the event

will automatically be devolved to Save the Children

to support the “Spazio Mamme” project.

Alessandra Santarelli is a half Italian half American photographer based in Rome. She specializes in portraiture.. The images in this exhibition focus on children, as well as their extraordinary bond to their parents, both mothers and fathers. Entering the world of children, identifying with their games and play and respecting their timing, is the way these moments were captured, always different and sometimes surprising.

Save the Children is the largest international indipendent organization that works to concretely improve the life of children in Italy and in the world. It exists since 1919 and operates in 119 countries with a network of 30 national organizations and one international coordination office. Save the Children was constituted in Italy at the end of 1998 as an Onlus and has started its activity in 1999. Today is is an NGO recognised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The “Spazio Mamme” is a pilot centre realised in the context of the national project “La Buona Tavola”, promoted by Save the Children Italia and by Enel Cuore Onlus. The prinicpal aim of the project is to contribute to contrasting minors’ poverty and that of nutrition in particular, through sensitization interventions, information and support in three large italian cities: Turin, Rome, Naples. The project, of the duration of 2 years, will be able to reach into the urban areas with the highest risk of poverty, more than 80.000 children and adolescents within the range of 0-13 years of age and their families.

The “Spazio Mamme” of Rome, has the aim to reinforce the parential competences in the care and the nutrition of their own children and is articulated in meeting spaces for parents and children, activities and information services, laboratories, cosultations for orientation and support, specific meetings on breastfeeding and weaning. At the centre various professional figures alternate (pediatricians, nutritionists, educators, social counselors, etc.) to offer, always for free, specific consultaions to families. At the disposal of mothers moreover are an internet point and a notice board for the free exchange of  products and accessories for children.
