Charles Simic in Rome
27 Oct. The St Stephen’s Cultural Centre Foundation presents a bi-lingual (English and Italian) poetry reading with Charles Simic, the 2007 US Poet Laureate, on Tuesday 27 October at 19.00.
Simic is the author of nearly three dozen books of poetry, a dozen volumes of works in translation, and numerous collections of prose. He has won many major awards, including the Pulitzer Prize, and is a frequent contributor to the New York Review of Books, writing essays on topics such as philosophy, jazz, and art.
Simic is in Italy to receive the 2015 Premio Letterario Internazionale Laudomia Bonanni, an annual prize that recognises international achievement in poetry.
The reading at St Stephen's takes place at the school's auditorium, on Via Aventina 3.
