Charles Wesley 300th anniversary celebration
To celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birthday of Charles Wesley, one of co- founders of the Methodist movement, there will be an Anglican-Methodist ecumenical eucharistic celebration at the S. Francis Xavier Church, Via del Caravita 7 on 4 Dec at 12.30.
Co-presiders: Bishop John Flack (Archbishop of Canterbury's representative to the Holy See and director of the Anglican Centre, Rome) and The Revd. Trevor, Pastor of the Methodist Church at Ponte S. Angelo, Rome. Professor Geoffrey Wainwright from Duke University, USA will speak on the hymns of Charles Wesley.
The choir of a Methodist Church from Georgia, USA will direct the liturgical music and give a concert at the American Academy on the evening of 4 Dec at 21.00. Via Angelo Masina 5.
Charles Wesley, the younger brother of the better-known John Wesley, was born on 18 Dec 1707 and wrote over 6,000 hymns.
