25 Sept-4 Oct. The popular Caffè Perù on Via di Monserrato is holding a Cinema Europa festival in the Piazza S. Caterina della Rota, the little square in front of the bar.

All films will be shown in their original language versions with Italian subtitles, and the outdoor screenings take place every night at 21.00, from 25 September to 4 October.

The programme begins with Soul Kitchen (Germany) on 25 Sept, followed by Quasi amici (France) on 26 Sept, Carnage by Roman Polanksi (France, Germany, Poland, Spain) on 27 Sept, The Angel's Share by Ken Loach (UK, France, Belgium) on 28 Sept, Pride (UK) on 29 Sept, L'esplosivo piano di Brazil (France) on 30 Sept, Storie pazzesche (1 Oct), Tutti i santi giorni (Italy) on 2 Oct, Moliere in Bicicletta (France) on 3 Oct, and ending with Fuori strada (Italy) on 4 October.

The cinema festival coincides with a petition, organised by Caffè Perù, to create a pedestrian area in Piazza S. Caterina della Rota. The bar is currently collecting signatures for the scheme whose stated objective is to reduce urban pollution, make the area a more liveable and pleasant place, and protect the square's precious artistic heritage.
