The eighth edition of Italy's Giornata del Contemporaneo takes place in modern art galleries in Rome and across Italy on Saturday 6 October.
Organised by AMACI, the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, the initiative also involves commercial art galleries and associations staying open late with a variety of shows and performances.
On the occasion, an exhibition by Gino Marotta titled Relazioni pericolose will be inaugurated at the National Modern Art Gallery (GNAM) which is free to visitors for the duration of Contemporary Art Day.
The MACRO on Via Nizza presents the work of Yto Barrada, Anders Peterson and Giulio Turcato with guided tours at 11.30, 14.00, 17.00 and 19.00. A children's workshop called Neon: La materia luminosa dell'arte – designed for children aged between and 10 – takes place at 15.00 and 17.00.
Meanwhile MACRO Testaccio is giving tours of the Fotografia Festival Internazionale di Roma at 17.00 and 19.00. For all MACRO events it is necessary to book in advance, tel. 06671070425, or email visite.macro@gmail.com.
