16 June-1 Aug 2006. This is only the first section of the festival of music, theatre and dance that takes place in the magnificent Roman amphitheatre in the archaeological site of Ostia Antica. A second section takes place from 3 Aug to mid-Sept 2006. The festival is difficult to define as the programme is extremely varied, ranging from songwriters, to rock, to opera, drama, cabaret and dance in the hope of attracting a public as vast as possible. However some names do stand out as guarantees of quality: a concert by the Michael Nyman Band on 19 July 2006; and Jackson Brown and David Lindley on 1 Aug.
