Cullberg Ballet.
19 Mar 2006. In Empty House, Negro con Flores and Aluminium, choreography by Johan Inger and Mats Ek. The world-renowned Cullberg Ballet has been Swedens leading dance company for almost 40 years. Under the direction of Mats Ek, until 1993, it built up an original repertory that contributed to its big international success. In this programme, the company presents Eks recent work, Aluminium, commissioned by a Spanish dance company. Aluminium is about resistance not necessarily in the political sense but more as a general attitude to daily life; seeing the familiar anew, not taking things for granted. The rest of the programme presents two works by Johan Inger, the Cullberg Ballets artistic director since 2003. Negro con Flores is Ingers most recent creation, while Empty House is a reworked version of So Now Then which he created for the Nederlands Dans Theater in Holland. The piece centres around a feeling of being trapped inside oneself.
