9, 10 July 2004. The Dance Gala has long been one of the most successful events of the Spoleto Festival featuring a line-up of classical and contemporary stars. Dance fans used to travel for miles to watch the dazzling performances of Barishnikov, Noella Pontois, Patrick Dupond and many others in the privileged and close-up space of the Teatro Romano. Then the costly event disappeared from the programme for years only to reappear some three years ago in the same format but with less famous dancers. It is totally lost in the grandiose space of Piazza del Duomo and is feasible only for spectators sitting in the front rows.
