Daniil Trifonov

This young Russian pianist, who has carried off most of the major international piano prizes before he 25th birthday, plays Strauss’ Macbeth, Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and the Elgar Variations. The Financial Times wrote after a recent concert in London “What makes him a phenomenon is the ecstatic quality he brings to his performances – an all-consuming intensity-of-belonging on the public platform that translated into something thrilling, absorbing, inspiring.” Here Trifonov is conducted by Mark Elder, music director of the Manchester based Halle Orchestra.
