After its summer break, Das Rheingold by Richard Wagner will be performed at the Teatro dellOpera in Rome 18-25 Oct. The conductor is Will Humburg and director is Pier Alli, who is also in charge of the sets and costumes. This production goes back to the 1980s, when for the first time videos were screened alongside the painted sets. There were hopes that this production of Das Rheingold would lead to the performance of Wagners entire Ring cycle, which has not been performed in Rome for 45 years, but it seems that there will be no follow-up.
