This is part of the S. Cecilia programme of contemporary music. The orchestra and chorus perform David Lang’s The Little Match Girl Passion, based on the fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen in the format of Bach’s St Matthew’s Passion, which won the Pulitzer prize in 2008. It is followed by Avro Pärt’s De Profundis and Miserere.
