29 May-30 July 2003. The festival, which is brimming with big names, takes place at the Club La Palma (tel. 0673566581, Via G. Mirri 35) and at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The superstars are Wayne Shorter (11 July), John Zorn (17 July) and Keith Jarrett (20 July), but the programme contains plenty of other interesting events covering jazz from its origins to its most avant-garde experimentation. The sensual voice of Nnenna Freelon is on stage at La Palma on 11-12 June, Avion Travel on 16-17 June, and close on their heels are pianist Enrico Pieranunzi (3 July), Mercedes Sosa (5 July), Michael Nyman (6 July) and Brad Mehldau (10 July).
