Don Giovanni by Mozart.
21Oct-26 Nov 2005. Conducted by Julia Jones, directed by Davide Livermore, with Erwin Schrott, Ilya Bannik and Svetla Vassileva.
The year 2006 will be the year of Mozart, marking the 150th anniversary of his birth. The Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa begins celebrating the occasion with Don Giovanni (21 Oct-25 Nov), Le Nozze di Figaro (2-24 Nov) and Cosi fan tutte (12-27 Nov); three masterpieces of beautiful music with excellent librettos, all written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. From 11 -24 November (including two weekends) the works are programmed in such a way as to allow the entire cycle to be seen in the space of three days. Don Giovanni is a new production which carries the signatures of Davide Livermore as director and Julia Jones as conductor. Le Nozze di Figaro (Robert Carsen director) and Cosi fan tutte (Michael Hampe director) are old productions but with a change of conductors, Tomas Netopil and Christopher Franklin respectively. In the three casts, there are some of todays best singers of Mozarts music: Marina Comparato, Laura Giordano, Dagmar Schellenberger, Alfonso Antoniozzi, Erwin Schrott and Piero Spagnoli.
