6 May-15 July 2005. Fabio Sargentini.

As is his wont, Sargentini, one of our oldest avantgarde dealers, gives reign to his own creative impulse in his gallery: he has arranged the boys of his stable in delectable groups. In one room one Ontani hangs together with a Limoni, with a sculpture by Leoncillo standing by. In another, similar works by the threesome form a slightly different configuration. This whimsy aside, it is a pleasure to see the newest Limoni abstractions to be more painterly than ever: a host of feathery paint strokes less juicy than before and more powdery, in lilacs and purples making an absorbing surface that reminds you of spring bloom in gardens. Leoncillos sculptures in vivid contrasts of raw and shiny clay, are also in purples, like straining flesh of the earth heaved up from Persephones underground lair. Photograph self-portraits of Ontani and fragile oils by Pizzi Cannella and Barzagli are also arranged in odd groups. Fabio Sargentini.
