19 July. The Draftsmen's Congress closes on 19 July with an exciting initiative called “Fluo Night” at the ESC Atelier in S. Lorenzo, under the guidance of the project's curator, leading Polish artist Pawel Althamer.
The ESC art centre will be illuminated by ultraviolet lamps with music selected by DJs, while the artists, illustrators and members of the public are invited to decorate the building's walls with fluorescent paints.
For the last six weeks the ESC, together with the Swiss Institute of Rome, have welcomed professional and amateur artists who have been given free rein to draw, paint or write whatever they liked on the walls.
Fluo Night is the final chapter in this multi-layered, large-scale project which has evolved on a daily basis since it was launched on 4 June.
Meanwhile, the painted panels surrounding the walls of the Swiss Institute's exhibition space are being divided into various-sized pieces and distributed free of charge.
