Emma Dante.
28 Nov-9 Dec 2006. In Cani di Bancata, by Emma Dante for RomaEuropa Festival. Emma Dante is a highly talented stage director from Palermo who develops her volcanic theatre as a dramatic dialogue with her homeland. Dantes works are characterised by analyses of the morality and apparent morality of rigidly joined structures in the family and in society. Her theatre shows memories of passion, force and humiliation in thrilling and horrifying scenes. Cani di bancata (dogs of the marketplace) are the animals waiting, under the stalls of the market, for the scrap food left by the traders at the end of the working day.
