MAXXI continues its investigation into the relationship between architecture and the environment and explores the influence of energy on the configuration of the physical spaces we inhabit. It features three sections dedicated to past, present and future. The first examines the immense heritage of “road architecture” in post-war Italy, delving into the archives of ENI, Italy’s national energy company; the second section documents the state-of-the-art in the relationship between the landscape and energy in the work of the three Italian photographers: Paolo Pellegrin, Alessandro Cimmino, Paola Di Bello; in the third section seven international offices, invited to develop projects specifically for the exhibition, investigate the influence that new systems for energy distribution will exercise on the city and spaces of human inhabitation. 11.00-19.00.
