If you are fascinated by the wonders of the classical world you must go to Naples where an exhibition has opened at the National Archaeological museum. Entitled Eureka! Il genio degli antichi the exhibition recounts the scientific and technological wonders of the Hellenistic era from 323 BC to 31 AD. It documents 300 years when the Greeks changed the known world from the Mediterranean to Asia and the of understanding astrology, geometry and medicine and in using hydraulics, compasses, musical instruments and steam-driven machinery. .
This exciting and ambitious display brings together 200 exhibits from all over the world, reproductions of water clocks, astronomical calculators and important archaeological remains. It is divided into 10 sections that include areas dedicated to Alexander the Great, Archimedes, music and acoustics, machines, and the great lighthouse at Alexandria, one of the seven wonders of the world.
The exhibition is included in the ticket for the museum and costs 9, reduced price of 4.50 for EU citizens from 18 - 25 and free to children up to 18 and adults over 65.
