Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma

The new Rome Film Festival artistic director Marco Müller has announced a number of changes for the seventh edition of the festival. First of all this year’s event will feature two new competitive sections: CinemaXXI (21st-century Cinema) and Perspectives Italy, while in a significant expansion, organisers plan to showcase some 60 world premieres. Alongside the official selection, the festival hosts a section called Alice Nella Città, to provide a showcase for youth-oriented cinema.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes Müller’s selection committee, which comprises former London festival head Sandra Hebron, has been selecting films to be shown in the main competition, non-competitive section and CinemaXXI.

As well as the screenings and prize-giving ceremonies, the festival calendar also offers a programme of meetings with film professionals, conferences, seminars, and workshops for film projects. As always, the films in the International Competition will be judged by an international jury of seven who will assign the Golden Marc’Aurelio for Best Film as well as the usual array of awards for actors, technicians and film writers.

The festival (with its famous red carpet) will continue to take place largely at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, plus some other city venues. Auditorium Parco della Musica, Viale P. de Coubertin. For booking and information tel. 892982, www.auditorium.com.
