Festival Nuovi Spazi Musicali.
6-27 Oct 2005. This is the 26th edition of Romes successful contemporary music festival that inaugurates a season dedicated to this non-commercial and sophisticated branch of music. The festivals director is contemporary music composer Ada Gentile, who has drawn up a programme of seven concerts in collaboration with the embassies of Holland and the United States and the Hungarian Academy. The central theme of this years programme is a tribute to the composer Giacinto Scelsi, on the centenary of his birth. Concerts take place in the Hungarian Academy in Via Giulia 1, and at the American Academy at Porta S. Pancrazio and in Villa Aurelia. About 40 works will be performed, many of them world premieres and some of them especially commissioned for the occasion by the festival from promising young composers. Remaining concerts include performances by Trio Kaida from the Netherlands on 20 Oct (Hungarian Academy); a violin and bassoon duo on 24 Oct (American Academy in Villa Aurelia); and a Hungarian quartet on 27 Oct (Hungarian Academy).
