Francofilm: French cinema festival in Rome
7-17 March. Fans of French cinema will enjoy the eighth edition of Francofilm, the festival dedicated to francophone or French-language films, at the Institut Français Centre Saint-Louis.
Films are screened in their original language, with subtitles in Italian, and there will be directors and actors present at the festival which is held in collaboration with embassies and representatives of the international organisation of French-speaking countries.
Viewers can vote for their favourite film, which is selected for a prize, in addition to a separate award from an expert panel of judges.
This year’s programme, centred around the theme “family”, opens with Il a déjà tes yeux di Lucien Jean-Baptiste, and closes with the award ceremony and the screening of La tortue rouge by Michaël Dudok de Wit.
The festival's 16 films come from Albania, Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Canada-Québec, France, Greece, Ivory Coast, Libya, Luxembourg, Mali, Morocco, Switzerland, Tunisia and Vietnam.
