The Hard Rock Cafe on Rome's Via Veneto presents "Freddie for a Day", a day-long initiative in honour of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, on 5 September.
The event takes place on what would have been the 67th birthday of the late British musician, with celebrations from midday until night time, including the screening of Queen documentaries, quizzes, games, themed playlists, dj sets, karaoke and live music.
Fans can also compete in a Freddie Mercury likeness competition, with the winner receiving dinner for two at the Hard Rock Cafe. Revellers will be supplied with Freddie Mercury-style moustaches and all dishes have been temporarily renamed after Queen songs.
Proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust, an AIDS awareness organisation, established by the remaining members of Queen and the band's manager in the wake of Mercury's death from the disease in 1991.
Each year the organistation remembers Mercury on 5 September, the date of his birthday. For more details on the Rome event see the false;" href="http://www.hardrock.com/locations/cafes3/cafe.aspx?LocationID=50&MIBEnumID=3 VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jtpf8N5IDE"> Hard Rock Cafe website.
