The Rome Savoyards are holding a fundraising event on Wednesday 15 May from 18.45 to 20.45, hosted by Surya Mahal Indian restaurant in Trastevere.
There will be aperitivi and Indian refreshments in the restaurant's garden where company members will entertain the audience with some enjoyable light entertainment. The restaurant is located on Via di Ponte Sisto 67, opposite the bridge of the same name and just behind Piazza Trilussa.
This is the first fundraising event staged by The Rome Savoyards, with all proceeds going towards Plays-in-Rome, the cultural and non-profit association created to fund the company's forthcoming shows.
The company was established Sandra Provost in 1981, with a nod to London’s Savoy Theatre, home to Gilbert and Sullivan. In recent years it has diversified into Shakespearian comedies, light comedies by Alan Bennett and Neil Simon, Restoration comedy as well as high drama.
Its upcoming show Jake's Women by Neil Simon takes place at Teatro S. Genesio, Via Podgora 1, from 11-14 June.
Tickets for the fundraiser on 15 May cost €30 per person, and include a glass of wine/beer/soft drink, a plate of Indian light refreshments & lively entertainment.
