Giselle.
Balletto del Teatro dellOpera. 30 June-4 July 2004. In Giselle, choreography by Carla Fracci from Coralli/Perrot/Dolin. Fracci, who still appears frequently in cameo roles, was herself a beautiful Giselle. Here, as director of the Rome corps de ballet, she leaves her own choreographic mark on this masterpiece of Romantic ballet without straying from the modern vision of Anton Dolin, with whom she often danced. Giselle was originally choreographed by Jules Perrot and Jean Coralli and presented in Paris in 1841. The ballet tells the German legend of the "Wilis" spirits of young women who die before their wedding night. The plot moves through two planes of existence, from the bucolic reality of the fragile peasant girl Giselle up to the ethereal realm of the Wilis.
