Hamelin
Until 19 June 2005.
This Teatro Abada/Animalario co-production is a powerful, poignant tale of collective guilt and punishment. The play centres on a case of alleged paedophilia, poetically interwoven with the Piper of Hamlyn tale. Playwright Juan Mayorga describes it as "about the manipulation of innocence and the misery of our civilisation, about threatened childhood and a society that abandons its children. Director Andrs Lima says Hamelin talks of the same things as the fable: of rats, of rascals. Animalario remains faithful to the origins of the title, highlighting corruption, perversion of education, sexual perversion, and the twisting of words".
