Helmut Newton: White Women, Sleepless Nights, Big Nudes
The Palazzo delle Esposizioni pays tribute to Helmut Newton, one of the most influential and controversial photographers of the 20th century. The 200 images on show comprise the entire contents of Newton's first three books: White Women (1976), Sleepless Nights (1978), and Big Nudes (1981). The exhibition travels to Rome from Houston's Museum of Fine Arts and Berlin's Museum für Fotografie. Newton (1920-2004) first achieved international recognition in the 1970s as a celebrity photographer and became famous for his stylised and often erotic images.
