Hideko Takamine films at Japanese Cultural Institute
The Japanese Cultural Institute pays homage to the famous Japanese actress Hideko Takamine (1924-2010) by screening a number of films in which she starred.
Takamine began her celebrated career as a child, becoming a popular figure in Japan and working for decades with the country's important movie directors such as Heinosuke Gosho, Mikio Naruse, Yasuzo Masumura, Shiro Toyoda, Keisuke Kinoshita and Yasujiro Ozu.
The films will be screened in their original language version with English subtitles, for full programme see website.
The Japanese Cultural Institute also has an exhibition of Ukiyo-e prints on display currently.
