9 June. The Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation at John Cabot University presents a staged reading of Don Carroll's play If Lear had a Lawyer.
Carroll is an American attorney and long-term Rome resident who also performs and directs with the city's English-language theatre companies. This is his first play and is based on Shakespeare's King Lear from a lawyer's perspective.
The cast includes Michael Fitzpatrick (Lear), Douglas Dean (Fool), Georgia Darell (Goneril), Nadia Caretto (Cordelia), Angelo Carotenuto (Edmund), Rosie Hillesley (Lizzy), Anna Madden (Regan), Bill Guion (Earl of Kent), Lee Archer (Guard 1), and Joe Moda (Guard II).
Afterwards, award-winning directors Harriet Power and Robert Hadley will host a post-show discussion. 18.00-20.30.
