This is an exhibition dedicated to the rituals of the ancient world at the Colosseum in Rome 22 July-8 Jan 2006. More than 70 works document religious phenomenon diffused throughout ancient Greece and Italy such as Orphic (related to Orpheus and the underworld) and Dionysian (relating to Dionysus, god of wine) ritual and the enigma of the Eleusinian mysteries the annual initiation ceremonies for the cult of Demeter and Persephone based at Eleusis in ancient Greece.

Objects on show include statues, busts, altars, frescoes, vases, sculptural reliefs.
