Iloo I. Una vita per lAfrica.
Pietro Savorgnan di Brazz Re Makoko 10 Sept-4 Oct 2006. The exhibition, and a host of other initiatives, commemorates the life and philosophy of the great explorer and humanist Pietro Savorgnan di Brazz (Rome 1852-Dakar 1905). In the panorama of 19th-century colonialism in Africa, he was a man of vision, who rejected racism and tried to build bridges between different cultures. In 1880 he signed a treaty with central African Bateke king Makoko Iloo I, in which exchanges between Africans and Europeans were mapped out.
