12-20 Nov 2004. LAlternativa, Barcelonas independent film festival is a platform for the promotion and distribution of innovative films that miss out on mainstream distribution. Taking place at the Centre de Cultura Contempornia de Barcelona, Cine Mald, Institut Francs, FNAC and SGAE, this year some 70 independent films worldwide will be screened in the official sections of the festival. The films nominated for an award compete in four sections: short films, feature films, animation and documentary. The festival also screens retrospectives with tributes to forgotten filmmakers as well as thematic programmes and work from international film schools offering free screenings, workshops, round tables, concerts and parties.
