International Music Festival

The Konzerthaus in Vienna is the site for this years International Music Festival, which will feature over 70 different performances. The festival opens on 6 May with a performance by the Berliner Philharmoniker who team up two days later with the Wiener Philharmoniker for a first ever joint concert behind the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The dynamics between these two orchestras in their clash of cultures and styles borne of a history of competition promises to be a strong feature of this, the 32nd International Music Festival. The musical programme draws on an extensive repertoire of material connected to the two cities from Baroque times to contemporary sounds. The programme is complemented by the showings of film classics, literature evenings, world music and jazz projects. Prices can cost between _19 and _120 with a 10% discount for patrons and 50% for young people.
