Berlins main exhibition centre, the Berlin Messe, plays host to the International Tourism Exchange Berlin. Every conceivable professional from the travel and tourism industry will be taking part in an annual event that attracts some 125,000 visitors. The displays and stalls are occupied by international, national and regional tourist organisations, carriers, travel agencies, tour operators, hotels, communication and information systems providers, insurance companies, and publishing companies. A strong representation from Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia will surely make their presence felt. The participants also engage in various discussions on such topics as electronics in tourism and the effects of global tourism on local cultures.
