Performed by I Turchini di Antonio Florio with soprano Roberta Invernizzi. I Turchini are specialists in both the performance of and research into baroque Neapolitan music. They have recorded 40 albums and their latest, I Viaggi di Faustina, is in homage to the baroque mezzo-soprano Faustina Bordoni (1697-1781). BBC Music Magazine reviewed it as the recording of the month in June this year, praising soprano Roberta Invernizzi for her interpretation of Faustina. The music is by Porpora, Vinci, Mancini, Sarro and Bononcini, all of whom were considered greater than Handel at the time.
