Italy Reads Hemingway lecture
A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway is the subject of this year's Italy Reads programme
John Cabot University in Rome has selected A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway as the subject of this year's Italy Reads, its annual community-based English language reading and cultural exchange programme.
Each year Italy Reads focuses on classic American novels, helping to raise their profile among an Italian audience. There are a number of public lectures included in this year's programme. The next public Italy Reads lecture is on 4 November (18.30) by JCU's Vanda Wilcox, whose doctorate at Oxford University was on morale and discipline in the Italian army in world war one. Wilcox will examine Hemingway's novel in historical context. This lecture is a repeat of the lecture offered to a standing-room only audience at JCU on 21 October.
There will also be a production based on A Farewell to Arms by the English Theatre of Rome over the first two weekends in November.
All events take place in the Aula Magna Regina at JCU on Via della Lungara 233, in Trastevere.
For full details on the Italy Reads programme, see the JCU website, and the 8 October edition of Wanted in Rome.
