Founded by Jos Limn, an American with a Mexican background, and one of the great choreographers of neoclassic ballet, the company has been led by the former dancer Carla Maxwell since 1978. Even though the extensive repertoire of its founder still characterises the company today, Maxwell has succeeded in developing its commitment to modern dance by introducing new works by contemporary choreographers of expressive dance.
