K Festival.

11 Sept-2 Oct 2006. This is the third edition of an increasingly popular event that sees a selection of Mozart masterpieces performed by the S. Cecilia Orchestra and Chorus under the direction of internationally famous conductors. The festival also includes a section dedicated to cinema and a novelty entitled the Brunello Project. The choice of the festivals unusual title is in the fact that the letter K is the letter that identifies the vast catalogue of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but also, according to organisers, its a symbol that conceals the mystery of Mozarts art, the supreme magic that makes his music so special and unmistakable. This years festival has a slightly innovative form and sees four different programmes performed by the Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia with the participation of world class soloists. Each concert lasts just one hour without intermission and is meant for both Mozart enthusiasts (who will get to hear rarely performed works) and for people who, out of curiosity, would like to approach Mozarts music for the first time. In addition to the concerts, the festival presents a cycle of evenings entitled Mozart a genius ... no one is normal up close. These evenings highlight four different aspects of Mozarts life comparing them to those of other musicians from different periods. They are hosted by Mario Brunello along with the Italian String Orchestra, and preceded by discussions led by Marco Paolini, Michele DallOngaro, Erri de Luca and Philippe Daverio. Completing the Festival will be the screenings of two films: The Magic Flute by Lele Luzzati and Don Giovanni. Prices are very affordable with tickets at 10, subscriptions beginning at 34 and for the under-30s tickets at only 6.
